Not A Bare Stone

The centre stone is ringed by a row of small white stones set into a raised collar. That is a halo, whatever the listing calls it, and it is what makes the earring read wider than the stone.

The gallery behind each stone is drilled through rather than closed. Light reaches the stone from below, and the open back also means the setting can be cleaned properly.

How They Sit On The Ear

Each stud is a shallow disc held on a straight post with a butterfly back. The weight sits close to the lobe rather than hanging below it.

Because the halo raises the outer edge, the earring sits almost level against the ear instead of tipping forward the way a tall claw setting does.
