Is the stone in this ring a natural emerald or a diamond?

Neither. It is a laboratory-created (lab grown) emerald. A lab grown emerald is the same mineral - beryl coloured by chromium or vanadium - as a mined emerald, with the same chemical and optical properties, but it is grown in a laboratory rather than mined. It is not a diamond and not a moissanite, and it is not a mined emerald.

How should I care for a lab grown emerald?

Emerald rates 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs hardness scale, which is softer than diamond or moissanite, and it can chip if knocked. Remove the ring before cleaning, swimming or heavy activity. Clean only with lukewarm water, mild soap and a soft cloth. Never use an ultrasonic or steam cleaner on emerald.

What metal is this ring made from?

How to find your size

You have a ring that fits

Lay it on a ruler and measure the inside diameter from inner edge to inner edge in millimetres. Find that number in the Diameter column.

No ring to hand

Wrap a thin strip of paper or a piece of string snugly around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps, then measure that length in millimetres. Find it in the Circumference column.

Tips for a good fit

Measure at the end of the day, when your fingers are at their largest.
The ring must pass over the knuckle: measure the knuckle as well and choose a size between the two.
Wide bands (6 mm and above) fit more snugly, so go half a size up.
