Customise this pieceOne Step Cut Stone
An emerald cut works in long flashes rather than scattered sparkle. The video turns the ring slowly, so you can watch each step light up and go dark again.
Flat steps run the length of the table and the four corners are cropped. That outline is what makes an emerald cut read as a long rectangle instead of a square.
From the side, four double claws fold over the corners of the stone. The shank narrows as it leaves the setting, which lifts the stone clear of the finger.
The gallery is cut away underneath. Light reaches the stone from below as well as above, and there is less metal sitting between the stone and the finger.
Up close the steps stack towards the centre like a corridor of mirrors. Nothing else is set anywhere on the ring: one stone, four claws, a plain band.
The stone sits lengthwise along the finger, so it reads long rather than wide and keeps its edges inside the knuckles.
The band is plain and round in section, with nothing set along the shoulders. It sits flush against a wedding band worn next to it.
