The cup under each stone is cut away into leaf shapes. Less metal rests against the lobe, and light reaches the stone from behind as well as from the front.

From the side the stone is held at its widest point and stands well clear of the fitting. The basket tapers to a point, keeping the weight close to the post.

Fastening And Fit

Each stud closes with a plain butterfly back, the fitting most people already keep spares of. It pushes on and pulls off without a thread to line up.

Worn, the stone covers most of the soft part of the lobe. From any distance it reads as one bright point rather than as a piece with a shape to make out.
