How High It Sits

In profile the stone is held at its widest point by six fine wires that meet at a point beneath it. There is almost no metal under the stone at all.

On dark slate the stone throws a tight set of white flashes rather than a general glow. The fittings all but disappear against the stone they hold.

Up Close

At this magnification the larger facets show grey as well as white. That grey is ordinary in a stone of this size and it is part of how the pair reads.

Almost No Setting

The head is six wires rising from a thin frame with nothing filled in between them. From the front you see stone, and a little metal at the outer edge.

Each stud closes with a butterfly back. The whole fitting is light for the size of the stone, which helps it sit upright on the lobe instead of tipping forward.
