In a colourless emerald cut, the step facets produce long, white-light reflections that shift slowly as the stone moves. In a blue emerald cut, this same phenomenon is tinted: the reflections carry the stone's blue body colour into their white light, creating a shifting interplay between pure white and deep blue within the same facet. At 9.5ct DEW, the step facets are large enough that this interplay is distinct and visible — not a diffuse tint, but a real conversation between white light and blue colour happening across millimetre-scale surfaces. The stone does not simply appear blue. It appears to contain blue light.
