A Four-Claw Head

Four claws, one at each corner, hold the round brilliant. The shoulders divide into two thin arms just before they reach the head, leaving a small gap on either side.

Low And Level

In profile the stone sits close to the finger rather than perched high. The band is flat-sided and even in width, with a stamp struck into the inside of the shank.

The back shows the split arms meeting a plain collar. Nothing crosses beneath the pavilion, so the underside of the stone is left clear.

Worn, the head covers most of the width of the finger. The arms taper away quickly, so the band itself stays slim where it meets the next finger.

Why The Shoulders Split

The band divides into two arms before it reaches the head. That gap lets light in from the sides and makes the head look as though it floats above the band.

It also keeps the metal narrow at the point where the ring sits against the next finger.
