Customise this pieceClaws All The Way Round
Nothing competes with the stone here, so the film has only one job. Watch the edge of the stone as much as the centre, because that is where a round cut of this size usually gives itself away.
Rather than three or four heavy claws, this setting uses a ring of slim ones spaced evenly round the stone. Each one covers less of the edge than a thick claw would.
On porcelain in soft window light the stone reads cooler and quieter than it does under studio lamps. This is closer to how it looks in a room.
The reverse is left open so you can look straight through to the point of the stone. The claws are folded over and filed down rather than left standing proud.
On a fine chain a 22 ct DEW round hangs well below the hollow of the throat. It is heavy enough to stay where it settles instead of riding up against a collar.
The bail is tall and narrow, which keeps the stone square to the chest rather than letting it swing side on. A standard fine chain passes through it without forcing.
